Viral Advertising Campaigns

My Viral Advert Idea

I was inspired by the 'The Dark Knight Rises' (TDKR) viral twitter campaign and have decided to create a viral campaign for our own film.

Our film involves a crime scene where it shows that a person has been murdered. Much like the TDKR campaign we could publish fake police reports to the website stating that people should look for clues around their area. For murder mystery fans this will a great marketing strategy. It will state that people have to "report back" on Twitter using the tag #whodidit2018.

When the clues have been found it unlocks products such as posters and trailers. This hopefully will create more popularity for the short film and will get people excited about the film. By getting the public to engage in a more immersive and interactive experience it will create a more powerful and lasting memory. Hence making this certain film stick in the mind of the audience.

As shown in the PowerPoint above The Blair Witch Project was a hugely successful independent film, this is because they marketed it as a real event. We could do this with our film. Using print advertising methods such as posters or billboards to show the 'missing' people. I believe that this method however worked back in 1999 with the Blair Witch but now I feel that with the rise of technology people could go online and see that's its fake straight away.

Marketing Idea

With this film, we could release teaser posters before the finalised poster is made, this could look like:
