Similar Films

Memento (Dir. Christopher Nolan, 2000) This is a complex story about a character called Leonard Shelby who is a man that has ability to be able to make new memories. As he is damaged when struck in the head while confronting two people who are attacking his wife at their home. This leads on to killing one of the attackers during the attack and one of the last tings Leonard remembers is his wife dying. he devotes his life to finding and killing the second attacker.

This is similar to our film, it focuses on how the main character has memory loss and in both films this would be a main focus. It also has themes of murder and violence which will also is similar to our film and the story is very complex like Riley and her story.

The Machinist (Dir. Brad Anderson, 2004) The main character Trevor Renzik has mental health issues and suffers from insomnia. He then causes unintentionally an on the job accident which leads to a co-worker getting horribly injured. This leads to his troubles to get worse and becomes more paranoid and blames his problems on an enigmatic figure named Ivan.

This film has many elements that are like ours, for example it has the main character who is suffering from mental health which is like ours that has issues leading to effects in the way he interacts with other people, Riley struggles to interact with others because she cant remember what shes done that day or what she might do to hurt other people.

Black Swan (Dir. Darren Aronofsky, 2010) Psychological drama focusing on a feud between two ballerinas, in which one may be a figment of the other's imagination.

This is similar to our film by the use of hallucinations and visions. As the synopsis states, one ballerina may be a figment of the other's imagination, this is similar to our film as both the protagonist and the antagonist are the same person.
This film uses mirrors to show the decrease in mentality in the protagonist - Nina Sayers. These shots show her moving in the mirror while standing still in real life, I believe that this would be a useful plot point to use in our film.
