Similar Films; Films I got inspiration from.
Feature Length films:
Black Swan (Darren Aronofsky,2010)
Synopsis: Psychological drama focusing on a feud between two ballerinas, in which one may be a figment of the other's imagination.
This is similar to our film by the use of hallucinations and visions. As the synopsis states, one ballerina may be a figment of the other's imagination. Although this part doesn't really relate to our film, the two main characters in the film begin to blame one another for a crime. We could take inspiration from this film in a way in which they create tension between two characters.
Split (M. Night Shyamalan, 2017)
Synopsis: An outing takes a sinister turn for three teenage friends when they are kidnapped by a ruthless stranger and imprisoned in his basement. They soon learn that their captor has multiple-personality disorder, forcing them to plot their escape without ever knowing which of his 23 personas - young or old, male or female, benign or monstrous - they will confront on the way out.
This is a psychological thriller, a subgenre of the thriller branch. I have chosen this film as it has a specific way of showing crime throughout, it cuts away at the last second or only shows you half of the picture. For our crime scene this would be useful as by making it quite tame, it would ensure that its a thriller rather than a horror, and would also fit in the age bracket which we are planning it to be.

Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000)
Synopsis: Leonard is tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. The difficulty, however, of locating his wife's killer is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, untreatable form of memory loss. Although he can recall details of life before his accident, Leonard cannot remember what happened fifteen minutes ago.
This is classed as a crime film and therefore fits most in our genre. We have taken huge inspiration from this film as the protagonist suffers from nearly the same thing as our character. Where Leonard cant remember 15 minute ago, our character can't remember yesterday. We have been inspired by the flashbacks used in memento and will use quite a lot of flashbacks in our film.
Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960)
Synopsis: Phoenix secretary Marion Crane, on the lam after stealing $40,000 from her employer in order to run away with her boyfriend, is overcome by exhaustion during a heavy rainstorm. Traveling on the back roads to avoid the police, she stops for the night at the ramshackle Bates Motel and meets the polite but highly strung proprietor Norman Bates, a young man with an interest in taxidermy and a difficult relationship with his mother.
Although, this film has a completely different storyline to ours, this is classed as the greatest thriller of all time and because of this, I will watch this film again to gain inspiration from.
Side note- Although our film is predominantly a Crime Thriller. It can also be classed as a film à clef (French for "film with a key"), This is a film describing real life, behind a façade of fiction. I believe this fits nicely into our chosen genre.
