Aftermath

The story is about a boy called Max who suffered from a domestic incident of his mother abusing him throughout his childhood.  It built up a hatred in Max towards women who try to control him and women who try to show affection and love towards him.

The story focuses on how it affects his daily life, and how he interacts with other people.

The main character Max is extremely nervous and is a little bit socially awkward. So he finds everyday tasks like speaking to people, socialising with friends and college life very hard.

Max looks like a normal everyday guy, he refrains from socialising with many people as they don’t quite understand him.

Aftermath starts with the main character walking through an empty park on a cold winter day. The character talks about what happened to him when he was younger, through a voice over. Max has a favourite place in the park where he goes every morning before college to sit and listen to music. A new face Max has never seen before walks past and smiles at him, unknowingly she asks max which way is the college as she’s a new student and is lost.

The next shot shows Max leaving the female character at the reception as they exchange numbers. Later that week after many texts have been sent back and forth and many conversation on the phone the female character texts Max asking if he’d like to meet at the park. They both do a voice over as they walk to the park about the feelings they have about one another.

The female doesn’t understand that Max has a side to him that is extremely dangerous and is horrifying to come into contact with.

The two characters are sat on a bench in the park talking, the female character starts franticly apologising as she fears something is wrong with Max. Max’s character has a nervous breakdown because he is already on the edge of psychosis. What triggers Max is unclear to the female character, until he reaches for her hand and apologies that he just can’t be a part of the friendship. And runs from the female character, leaving the female sat clueless in the middle of an empty park.

The next shot shows the female character walking through the same park where Max walked talking about the friend she thought she’d made and how much Max just leaving upset her.
